VAT
Where VAT is payable in the pricing shown below it is calculated at the current applicable rate (which is 20%).
The figures shown sequentially represent (1) the amount without VAT, (2) the amount of VAT due and (3) the total inclusive of VAT.
Where no VAT rate or amount is shown below, no VAT is payable.
Our Fees for Commercial Litigation Work
The costs set out in the table below apply where your claim is in relation to an unpaid invoice which is not disputed, and in which enforcement action is not needed.
If the other party disputes your claim at any point, we will discuss any further work required and provide you with revised advice about costs if necessary, which could be on a fixed fee (e.g. if a one-off letter is required), or an hourly rate if more extensive work is needed.
| Debt Value | Court Fee | Our Fixed Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Up to £5,000 | Between £35–£205 | £250 plus £50 Vat = £300.00 total |
| £5,001 – £10,000 | £455 | £350 plus £70.00 Vat = £420.00 total |
| £10,001 – £50,000 | 5% value of claim | £550 plus £110 Vat = £660 total |
| £50,001 – £100,000 | 5% value of claim | £1000 plus £200 Vat = £1200.00 total |

Debt Recovery (Undisputed) Work Fees
Anyone wishing to proceed with a claim should note that:
- The total cost to you will be our fixed fee as detailed in the table above plus the applicable Court Fee.
- For example, a claim for a debt of £6000 would attract:
- Our fees – £350.00
- VAT on our fees – £70.00
- Court Fee – £450.00
- Total – £870.00
- The VAT element of our fee cannot be reclaimed from your debtor (unless you are not VAT registered).
- Interest and compensation may take the debt into a higher banding, with a higher cost.
- The costs quoted above are not for matters where enforcement action, such as the bailiff, is needed to collect your debt.
Work We Will Do
Our fee includes:
- Taking your instructions and reviewing documentation
- Undertaking appropriate searches (does not include disbursements which are usually £100 + VAT for a basic credit search)
- Sending a letter before action
- Receiving payment and sending onto you
- If the debt is not paid, drafting and issuing the claim
- Applying to court to enter Judgement in default if no Acknowledgment of Service or Defence is received
- Writing to the other side after Judgement to request payment
- If payment is not received within 21 days, providing you advice on next steps and likely costs
Timescales
Matters usually take 3–5 weeks from receipt of instructions from you to receipt of payment from the other side,
depending on whether or not it is necessary to issue a claim.
This is on the basis that the other side pays promptly on receipt of Judgement in default.
If enforcement action is needed, the matter will take longer to resolve and if the matter is disputed it could be
9–12 months before a Judgment may be obtained.
